Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

nekos.love is operated by Rogério Paulo Magalhães Videira de Sousa Ribeiro (the "Seller", "we", "us"), based in Portugal. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.

2. Personal data we collect

Account data — name, email address, password hash, language and interface preferences.
Content you create — cat profiles, diary entries, photos, videos, tags, comments and reactions, collections, and people you invite to your household.
Usage and device data — pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, crash and error logs.
Support messages — anything you send us when you ask for help.
Billing data — when you buy a paid plan, payment is processed by Paddle (see "Sharing" below). We receive a record of your subscription status, plan, country and the last few digits of your card; we do not store full card details.

3. Why we use it and on what legal basis

To provide the Service (create your account, store your diary, send invites, deliver memories) — performance of our contract with you.
To keep the Service secure (prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access) — our legitimate interest in protecting users and the Service.
To improve the Service (aggregated usage analytics, debugging) — our legitimate interest in operating and improving the product.
To provide customer support — performance of our contract and our legitimate interest.
To send service emails (verification, billing, important changes) — performance of our contract and legal obligation.
To comply with the law (tax records, responding to legal requests) — legal obligation.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your content to train AI models.

4. Sharing

We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients:

Hosting and infrastructure providers that store the database, files and run the application on our behalf, under data-processing agreements.
Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle") — our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payments, subscription management, invoicing, tax compliance, chargebacks and refunds. Paddle is an independent controller for the data it collects during checkout. See Paddle's Privacy Notice.
Email delivery providers for transactional and service emails.
Analytics and error-monitoring providers to understand usage and fix bugs.
Professional advisers (lawyers, accountants) when needed.
Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, property or safety.

5. International transfers

Some recipients are located outside the European Economic Area. When that is the case, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or irreversibly anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we must keep it longer for legal reasons (for example, tax records of paid subscriptions, kept for the period required by law).

7. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, hashed passwords and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk and respond quickly if something goes wrong.

8. Your rights

Subject to the law of your country, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to ask for portability of your data, and — where processing is based on consent — to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD). To exercise any of these rights, email hello@nekos.love. We aim to respond within one month.

9. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We may also use privacy-friendly analytics to understand aggregated usage. We do not use advertising cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.

10. Children

nekos.love is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice.
